15th Developer Note
Hello, Lords. This is my fifteenth greeting to you.
I’m Guo Jia, the PD in charge of Three Kingdoms: Idle Chronicles.
As the heat of July deepens, we have prepared this update with the hope that it will bring a refreshing breeze of change to all our Lords.
We are always deeply grateful for the interest and affection you show toward the game, and we have focused once again on enhancing both the fun and the convenience of the content to meet those expectations.
Even in this hot weather, we hope all Lords can continue to enjoy your adventures,
so let’s take a look together at the changes our development team has prepared.
7/15 Planned Update Content
- New Officer Added (Marine-look Bu Lianshi)

- We’re bringing you exciting news about a new officer to go along with the sizzling summer heat. This time, we’re introducing Marine-look Bu Lianshi, a new summer-themed reinterpretation of the existing Bu Lianshi. With her refreshing, ocean-inspired appearance, she has been reborn as a melee magic-type character who provides unique strategic value on the battlefield.
- The most distinctive ability of Marine-look Bu Lianshi is that she increases the critical hit rate and attack speed of all allies who have a movement speed increase effect. Interestingly, Marine-look Bu Lianshi herself only grants a movement speed increase effect to magic-type allies, allowing for a well-balanced performance. Therefore, when used together with officers like Wu Guotai, who provide movement speed boosts to all allies, she can create powerful synergies.
- The newly introduced "Bond Power" system in this update can also grant movement speed increase effects to allies. By utilizing this, you can make even more effective use of Marine-look Bu Lianshi’s critical hit rate and attack speed boosts. Our development team expects that Marine-look Bu Lianshi, with her intriguing mechanics that stimulate strategic thinking, will deliver high performance and open up new possibilities for various team compositions.
- We hope you’ll discover new strategies through creative combinations with your existing officers, and enjoy an even more thrilling Three Kingdoms: Idle Chronicles experience this summer with the refreshing and powerful Marine-look Bu Lianshi. We look forward to your continued interest and support.
Addition of Bond Power
- The Team Buff system that many Lords have requested will be newly added under the name “Bond Power.” Unlike the original Three Kingdoms Blade, Three Kingdoms: Idle Chronicles allows players to deploy up to 13 officers, which could lead to an overly complex web of stories among the Three Kingdoms officers.
To address this, our development team designed the system so that Bond Power is only granted when an officer is placed in a designated Bond Power slot, which changes periodically.
The location of Bond Power slots and the number of core slots will change on a regular cycle. We expect that each cycle will bring new strategic choices and a refreshing change to your officer formations and deployments.
As you know, the stories among the Three Kingdoms officers are vast and extensive, so not all possible bonds have been implemented yet. However, we plan to continue adding more Bond Power options going forward, and we appreciate your anticipation and interest. - For more detailed guidance on the Bond Power system, Cho Hwa is currently working hard to prepare a full guide, so please stay tuned for a little longer.
Accessory System Added
- The long-awaited Accessory System, which we previously announced through a developer note, will be introduced with this update. This system was developed for Lords who have already fully enhanced their Treasures and Imperial Treasures, allowing you to use your leftover Treasure Shards and Imperial Treasure Shards to craft accessories for each officer.
With this new system, you can further enhance each officer’s power and bring out their unique traits by equipping them with gems that best match their skill mechanics. Each officer can craft accessories using Treasure Shards and Imperial Treasure Shards. You can engrave up to three gem slots into an accessory using Imperial Treasure Shards. Then, by using Treasure Shards, you can equip gems into these engraved slots to grant desired stats and effects.
Gems are divided into grades ranging from Damaged to Legendary. However, anyone can gradually synthesize gems starting from the Damaged grade all the way up to Legendary. - In this update, only necklaces will be introduced first. However, each officer will eventually be able to craft multiple types of accessories, and we are also preparing special exclusive gems that can only be equipped into specific accessories. We look forward to your excitement and support!
Sura Battlefield Reward Structure Improvement
The Sura Battlefield, a content mode available after clearing the updated final stage, has received feedback from many Lords expressing disappointment that they can no longer obtain jade while clearing stages, regardless of the content’s fun factor.
To address this, our development team considered ways to allow players to continue earning jade daily in the Sura Battlefield. We combined this with the goal of giving players a stronger reason to play Sura daily and to make it a more intense competitive arena. As a result, we have improved the Sura Battlefield’s reward structure by adding a daily high score ranking system in addition to the existing seasonal highest score ranking.
Now, players will be able to earn jade according to their daily high score ranking.
However, we plan to slightly slow down the pace of normal battlefield expansions for the time being, as continuing at the current pace could lead to content being consumed too quickly. This adjustment is also meant to ensure that even Lords who start later will not feel too far removed from the Sura Battlefield content and will still have sufficient opportunities to engage with it.
We kindly ask for your understanding as we continue to make these adjustments so that all Lords can enjoy the content to its fullest.
Divine Beast Battle Difficulty Balancing and Weak Spot Improvement
- Recently, we received inquiries from Lords regarding the Divine Beast Battle. Upon review, we found that rather than an issue with the Divine Beast Battle itself, the rapid increase in Lords’ stats due to various enhancement contents has led to quickly surpassing Divine Beast stages, causing the Divine Beast’s stats to rise very rapidly. While increases in the Divine Beast’s attack, defense, accuracy, evasion, damage reduction, and reduction penetration were at manageable levels, the problematic aspect identified was that the Divine Beast’s critical hit chance and critical damage also grew with each stage. In particular, critical damage is multiplied again during the final damage calculation, which made the occurrence of critical hits by the Divine Beast a crucial factor affecting the Divine Beast Battle score at higher stages.
- Since Three Kingdoms: Idle Chronicles is a game, a certain level of randomness is naturally part of the experience. However, given the Divine Beast Battle content’s characteristics — including long attack intervals and multiple attack motions with varying hit timings — the difference between attacks occurring when the Divine Beast’s critical hit chance and critical damage are low versus when it has high critical hit chance or avoids critical hits is too large to be considered a reasonable part of the game’s variability.
- Therefore, in this update, the Divine Beast’s critical hit chance and final critical damage will no longer increase beyond a certain stage. Additionally, the “Powerful Strike” weak spot, which previously increased the Divine Beast’s final critical damage, will be changed to a “Faint Mist” weak spot that increases the Divine Beast’s damage reduction instead. This change is intended to maintain strategic content fun rather than merely boosting the Divine Beast’s damage output.
Officer Skill Activation Alarm added
- When officers on the battlefield cast skills, flashy effects and their battle cries are displayed. However, as the number of deployed officers increases and multiple skills are cast simultaneously, it becomes difficult to identify which officer is using a skill, and the overall experience can feel somewhat bland. To address this, we have added skill cast notifications for officers in the lower-left corner of the screen. This change applies to most content except Daily Battlefield and Fortress Defense. Additionally, in PvP modes such as Arena, Conqueror Showdown, and Hero Sparring, enemy officers’ skill cast notifications will appear on the opposite side. We hope these skill alerts enhance the excitement and immersion of battles for our players.
Damage Statistics Added
- Damage statistics, requested by many Lords, will be added. Damage statistics can be viewed in most PvE content except for idle hunting in the general battlefield. However, this excludes Arena and Conqueror’s Showdown, where battle statistics were already available in the battle records.
The damage statistics only record the damage dealt to enemies and do not include various buffs, debuffs, or other effects that do not directly show as damage. Therefore, these damage statistics should not be considered an absolute measure of an officer’s performance. We hope Lords will use this data as a reference when evaluating their officers.
Chat report system added
- While most Lords behave appropriately, there are occasional instances where some Lords write offensive or inappropriate chat messages, which are sometimes reported to customer support with screenshots. To address this, we have added an in-game chat reporting feature. Similar to the Hero Sparring system, you can report a message by clicking the portrait of the Lord who sent the chat.
- Reports will be reviewed by the operations team and appropriate actions will be taken according to the severity of the offense.
- We hope this system encourages all Lords to maintain respectful communication and avoid messages that cause discomfort to others.
Alliance Assault Theme Change
- With the addition of Guan Yinping, the lineup of heroines has finally been completed. To commemorate the completion of the Heroines Codex and to breathe new life into the Alliance Assault, which had grown somewhat stagnant with the same wardens for a long time since its release, we plan to change the theme of the Alliance Assault to the "Heroines Battle."
Each gate’s warden will be replaced with a heroine, and, just like the previous wardens, each gate will feature diverse critical effects and skills designed to challenge the strategies and tactics of our veteran lords.
We look forward to your excitement and support!
Regarding the Teleportation Issue in Alliance Clash
We are well aware that our lords enjoy the Alliance Clash content strategically. In particular, instant teleportation abilities, like that of Sun Luban, can greatly impact the flow of battle. Our development team fully recognizes the seriousness of this issue and the impact it has had on your gameplay experience.
After the recent update, reports were received regarding Sun Luban not teleporting correctly in Alliance Clash content. Upon investigation, our team initially identified this as an issue related to the sequential execution order of AI logic used in Unreal Engine 5, and we shared this explanation.
However, additional reports later indicated that the teleportation failure was occurring for both allied and enemy units, prompting us to analyze the problem in greater detail.
As a result, we discovered that the root cause stemmed from the terrain data of the map used in Alliance Clash. While there were no significant differences from other maps, a bug in Unreal Engine caused the terrain data at the teleportation target location to become indeterminate on this specific map, preventing movement. To resolve this, we modified the terrain data and released an update on Monday, July 7.
Nevertheless, we believe that the initially identified AI logic limitations also still remain. Under the current teleportation logic, there is a very low probability that if Sun Luban's target finishes teleporting first, 1) the target may be lost, resulting in the teleport being canceled, or 2) she may mistakenly follow to the new location rather than the original intended position.
To address this, we plan to improve the battle logic so that, before combat begins, units with teleportation abilities will predefine their teleport destinations and move to those positions regardless of the target’s current location. However, as this improvement requires code-level changes, it will be included in a future build update. We expect this fix to ensure a more stable and reliable battle flow.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused in the important Alliance Clash content, and we will continue working to improve and enhance the overall quality of our content.
In addition to this in-game update, a special community event prepared by Diao Hua to celebrate the summer will be coming soon.
Diao Hua will provide detailed information directly, so please look forward to it and we ask for your interest and enthusiastic participation.
We hope that through this update, Lords will be able to enjoy the game with even greater immersion.
We will continue to prepare meticulously to deliver both fun and completeness.
Thank you always for your continued interest and feedback, and we will do our utmost to meet your expectations in the next update as well.
Please stay healthy and have fun playing during this hot summer.
Thank you as always.
Sincerely,
Guo Jia
